Privacy & Cookie Policy

What personal data I collect and why I collect it

I collect the minimum amount of data possible. My contact forms are linked to email accounts, not to my servers (see Contact forms below). I have two main apps/plugins that generate cookies, Google Analytics and Sassy social share, (see Cookies below for further information). I only save emails on my WordPress secure database when a person registers to my site, becomes a subscriber and asks to be added to my mailing list for new blog posts and newsletters. I never, not ever, use any information for anything other than what it was intended and individuals have the right to access their data, delete their data, and forward a complaint at any time to my data controller, (see Data Controller Contact below).
The most information I take is Name and email, I do not ask for phone numbers, addresses or date of birth.

Do my plugins track any data?

I do not track any user data via my plugins. But if my plugin depends on any third party service, they might track user data.

Where is the data collected by my plugins stored?

I do not store any data fetched by my plugins on my servers, neither do I share that data with any third party.

Do my plugins load any external scripts?

As mentioned before, my plugins run absolutely from my Website and hence load the scripts too from my Website with exception of third-party embedded widgets (like Facebook Like/Recommend official button, Twitter tweet official button, Facebook Comments) which require my plugin to load scripts from the servers of relevant service.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site I collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from my email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of my comment, my profile picture is visible to the public in the context of my comment if you are using Gravatar.

Contact forms

My contact forms only collect the data you submit such as name, subject matter and message. This data is not held on my server or database, the emails are stored with my relevant email accounts such as G-Suite, Gmail or Hotmail. These emails and email addresses are never used for anything other than direct contact with the sender. After a maximum period of 6 months (when the messages between us have finished) I delete all messages and email addresses from my email account. I never use my email for marketing purposes or pass them to any third parties as I take you privacy seriously.

Who I share my data with

By default I and WordPress does not share any personal data with anyone.

How long I retain my data

I keep contact form entries for 6 months, Google Analytics records indefinitely.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on my Website (if any), I also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data I hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that I erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data I are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
